Shirley is a goblin of the Steamwheedle Cartel, born in Booty Bay to a bruiser and an alchemist. She took after her father's trade pretty early in life. Partially due to personal interest, but mostly because you don't have to pay your own kids a salary. Thankfully she found it pretty interesting- enough to keep up with it as she matured, and enough to turn it into her own trade (with some lighter tinkering on the side).
Following the Cataclysm and it's thrashing of Booty Bay she picked up shop and moved out to the new Steamwheedle port of Bogpaddle, out in the Swamp of Sorrows. There she's taken up regular contracting work for alchemy supplies- sending out healing potions, bombs, poisons, or whatever else as the buyer demands.
She's done work for the Horde, the Alliance, and plenty of third parties- though she seems to have a lot more Horde contacts than anything else, and she's often seen around their cities when travelling.
